Comments: The match was Best Ball Nassau.
This was "The Battle for the Bottom" and it began as if these were the right teams for the match. Chris G started with a double, triple, double but surprisingly the match was all even after 5. Chris G birdied 6 and he and Mike won 3 in a row and the front +3.
The back continued pretty much the way the the front ended with Chris & Mike winning 10-13 and the overall +7. That started a 5 hole press and Chris R finally found his swing parring 4 of the last 5 holes, but Chris and Mike were up to the task and were +1 going into 18. Chris R sunk a 10' putt to half the press. Even though the match was not very close, playing with Chris and Bill was a blast, They are a welcomed addition to the league See you all Thursday at the Championship

Comments: As the season comes to a close Rich Tony played Bill and Chris at Baiting Hollow on a beautiful sunny day. The format was best ball 18 hole closeout. Bill and Chris jumped out early winning one but Rich with a stellar 6 won 2 and the match was on. played even the next hole and on JB's favorite hole the uphill par 5 Rich Tony with 2 pars and a stroke went up one in the match. Match went back and forth with Tony and Rich ham and egging hole after hole , and as per Chris their team just hammed . Rich Tony were up one after 9 . Rich Tony kept the pressure on finally winning on 15 . The press began on 16 with With Bill and Chris both parring 16 to go up one in the press.
Then on the 17th tee the cart girl arrived before anyone tee'd off and the subject of wondering if the cart girl could tie her legs up in a bow came up and guess what Bill and Chris lost their drives ( wonder what they were thinking of )
Rich Tony parred 17 to even up the press heading to 18. Bill and Tony had to lay up on this great par 5 and Rich and Chris had to wait for green to clear to go for it.
Both came up short.
All 4 had birdie putts or chips. Bill chipped it close for a gimme par BUT he showed Tony the line and from 40 feet you guessed it Tony sunk his put for birdie to win the press. Of course the drinks were great to end a great day and yes the cart girl was now in the bar! Bill and Chris may still be there.
This was Rich and Tony's first match with the new team of Bill and Chris and we both agreed they are a great addition to the league, they couldn't be nicer and were a pleasure to play with.
Now on to the finals and Good Luck to all.

Comments: The sky?s were threatening ( actually it was already raining a bit) at Bellport GC yesterday for the featured match of the day between Team 5 , Chris and Mike G. Vs. Team 8 ,Dennis and Mike D. Due to work schedules , impending holiday weekend and the fear of the dreaded monetary fine from the commish we were determined to get this match in. To expedite the match alternate shot , Nassau was agreed upon. D / M took the first two holes , C/ M answered by taking 3 and 4. D/M took 6 and 7 . As we approached the 8 th green the rain came. D/M finished the hole C/M did not. We headed to Peters ordered drinks and a light lunch. After the drinks came the rain stopped so we decided to head on out again . We agreed to half the 8th hole . Actually Chris told us that?s what we?re doing. Seeing as he paid for the drinks, we agreed.
D/M up 2 at the turn ,took the front. The tenth was halved , D / M took 11 and 13.
The match was closed out on 15. The back was closed out on 16, the press was won on 17.
All in all it was a fun but nerve wracking format at times. The company was great. 18 was played for fun only to find out Peters was closed. 😩 Looking forward to seeing all next week.

Comments: Alternate shot format was chosen by Billy and Tom and the the scoring was close out. It was one of the closest matches I can remember. Neither team was ever up more than 1 and the match was even on 11 out of 18 holes. Tom and Billy started out by winning the first hole. The match went to even on the 3rd hole when Bill and Bud had a par vs Billy's and Tom's bogey. Bud and bill went to plus 1 on hole 5 with bud's birdy putt but back to even on hole 6 till #10 when Bill and Bud's par took the hole. But, back to even on 11. the back and forth continued until the match was even going to 18 which Bill an Bud took with a bogey. It was a fun and competitive match.

Comments: Best ball, Nassau. The heat and humidity did not show today. It was a perfect golf day. Frank/Dan chose the venue and John/Brian chose the format. The match started out with Frank parring the first hole with a stroke, net 3. Didn?t look good for the visiting team. But John/Brian settled into a down one up one routine till the ninth hole where John pulled a par for a net birdie to tie the front nine. We started the back nine halving 10,11. Brian birdied the par 4, 12th hole and parred the 13th to jump ahead 2 holes. Frank/Dan won the 14th hole and we halved 15. Brian/John both parred the 16th par 3 to win the hole. The John turned on the afterburner with a net birdie on 17 to win the match. The press was won by Frank with a bogey, net par. A tremendously competitive round. Every hole was contested to the end. Today?s match is why we play in this league. A lot of fun. Everyone needed a beer at the Mill pond. What a strange coincidence running into Murphy at the bar. Who would have ever thought that could happen?

Comments: The format was Nassau Best Ball. Do you guys really care about the details??? I left the card at the 19th hole, which is always the WINNER anyway and the reason we play 18 holes to begin with!!! So from a bad memory... Team 9 went up +3 after nine to win the front. The highlight was on #5 when Hank putted a 4 footer with the flag in and the putt it the flag dead on but rebounded back 4 inches and stayed out of the hole to lose the hole. Than on #7 Hank chipped from 50 ft and it was headed to the hole but at a great speed until it hit the flag and went in for the Birdie and the win on the hole. Morale of the story choose wisely when deciding to leave the flag in!!! The back nine started out with a few ties until Team #9 went up +2 after 15. Up 5 overall with 4 to go and the press was on while the back nine was still being decided. Steve who was hitting Monster Drives, some in his fairway, all day hit a great drive on 17 with a stroke and was on the green laying net 1 and 2 putted for the win. He than hit another monster drive and parred 18 for another win and that tied the back and won the press. Team 9 was glad they went up early and that Steve woke up late in the match. That's all Folks!!!!

Comments: Thursday?s featured match in Flight B pitted team 3 Tony and Rich vs. team 8 Dennis and Mike.
The venue was Bellport GC , a best ball Nassau was the format. Although there was a threat of some afternoon showers the weather turned out to be somewhat perfect.
Team 8 jumped out to an early lead with Dennis?s par on the first hole. Den?s par on 4 and Mike?s on 6 had Team 8 up 3 after 6 holes. Tony?s 5 for 4 on 8 got team 3 to within 2 but Den?s 5 for 4 on 9 sealed the front for team 8. Den and Mike both hit the green pretty close on 10. Tony found the front bunker buried and Rich was off the green about 30 yds from the pin. Rich?s difficult pitch snuggled up to about 3 feet and he made the par to equal both of team 8?s missed birdie attempts keeping the match close. Den came back with a nice birdie on 11 after his difficult second shot landed about 3 ft from the pin Team 8 up 4. The 14th pin was in the back right and Rich put it to about 10 feet. He pushed is birdie attempt about four feet past and made a clutch par putt to keep team 3s hopes alive. Den?s drive on 15 was his drive of the day past the bunker leaving him a wedge to the green. His shot pushed right a little and all four golfers watched his ball go into the right front bunker. The ball mysteriously disappeared and in an act of extreme sportsmanship Rich and Tony allowed Den to place a ball in the front of the green for a difficult bunker shot. Den managed a five to Team 3?s doubles . Mike also had a five which won the hole and the match but team 3s fine gesture is very worth mentioning.
On to the press and the back. Mike and Den were both stroking on 16 and took the hole with bogies . Mike?s par on 17 closed out the press and back. The 18th served as gateway to Peters for some well deserved cocktails. The company was great. Mike and Den have been victims of Rich and Tony many times before fortunately for them this time Team 3 had a rare off day. Although Mike would like to believe that his score was motivated by the early arrival of his first grandchild Valarie Beth weighing in at 3lbs 6 oz 10 weeks early

Comments: Frank and Dan chose to play best ball. The scoring was closeout. Our match started after 3:00 because of the women's member -guest outing at Bellport. The match started with ties on the first two holes. Looked like it was going to be a fight. Bill and Bud won the 3rd hole with a birdie by Bill. It stayed 1 up for Bud and Bill until Bud got a birdie on #6 and Bud and Bill were then +2. Frank and Dan just could not change the direction the game was going and Bud and Bill were 4 up at the turn. The match was +5 for Bud and Bill at 12 with a par by Bud. Dan's 5 on 13 won that hole for Frank and Dan but Bud and Bill both got pars on #16 to go back to +5 and the match was over. The press started and Bill's 5 on #15 won the hole but Dan and Frank came back winning +16 with Dan's par. Bill and Bud won #17 (Bill's favorite hole) when Bill hit a great drive and 2nd shot to around 15 feet from the pin and got the par and Bill and Bud were 1 up going to 18. Bud and Dan got pars on 18 and the press went to Bill and Bud. It looked like we might have to help Frank off the course because his back was in bad shape. We finished the round after 7:00 and Bill, Frank and Bud went to Porters for some refreshments and dinner. Dan, unfortunately could not join because he was having a medical procedure on Wednesday and could not eat. Good luck to Dan and we hope everything goes well.

Comments: The featured match of the day was Team C? , John and Brian, vs Team D? Dennis and Mike.
The venue was Colonial Springs , Lake to Pines, from the Blue?s I might add (6526 yds). Mike could be heard bitching about this from time to time. We played a best ball ,best ball Nassau. I?d say advantage Brian save for the fact that he was spotting up to 12 strokes. John and Brian took the first 2 holes and lead until the 6th hole where Dennis and Mike tied it up. We went back and forth but at the end of 9 holes John and Brian had a 2 point lead and took the front.
Dennis and Mike took the 10th only to lose the 11th. Then a funny thing happened , John took a work call which he never recovered from. The match was all square after 17 ( Dennis and Mike up on the back). John, Mike and Brian put their drives in the fairway and Den pushed his off to the right. After Mike came back from helping Den find his tee shot. He saw John up ahead looking for his second shot. When Mike went to address his ball he realized that John had just given Team D? a gift by hitting Mike?s ball. Dennis, Mike and Brian managed 6?s but both Den and Mike were stroking. So Team D? took the Back, Match and press points for a 9-3 win.
The only thing that could have been better were the scores. The company and sportsmanship were as good as it gets.

Comments: Steve and Joe had choice and they chose format. Bud and Bill were unable to get the format from Joe and Steve until the first tee. So, our strategy was to choose a course other than Bellport. The match was played at Pine Ridge Golf Course in Coram. We picked a course that we thought would be to our advantage guessing they were going to chose alternate shot.. On the first tee we were finally told we were playing alternate shot because Bud does not like the format. So the match began. Bud and Bill were up 1 after the first hole but Joe and Steve came back on #3 to even the match. Steve and Joe then went to 1 up. Then it went back to even until the Bud and Bill started to come alive and won 8 and 9 to go 1 up. Bud sank a 15' putt #10 to even the hole the alternate tide turned. Bud and Bill were up 3 with 5 holes to go and then we were up 4 with 4 to go. Steve and Joe won #15 and it looked like they were going to win 16 because of a couple of lousy shots by Bud and Bill, but as the alternate shot game goes, someone on the other team missed a short putt, the hole was tied and the match was over for a win by Bill and Bud. Steve and Joe won 17 and 18 taking the press. Not sure whether alternate shot or the course worked for us. It was hot and the beers tasted good. Glad to be going back to Bellport.

Comments: The format was best ball. A great day to play golf at Bellport, the temperatures were high with a nice breeze. John/Brian started with John paring the first hole. Sinking a 35' putt. They tied the 2nd and won the 3rd with a birdie. Tony/Rich battled back and forth, so by the end of the front 9, they were down by 1. John/Brian opened up the back nine with a birdie on 10 and a par on 11. They were up by 3. Rich/Tony won 11 and tied 12. After that it was the John/Brian show. Sinking putts from all over the greens. Winning the press with John's back to back birdies on 17 & 18th hole. Enjoyed playing with everyone. Wish we played more teams.

Comments: It was a hot and sultry day at The Baiting Hollow Club where teams 9 (Frank and Dan) and 10 (Chris and Bill) met for battle. Team 9 chose to play the match in a best ball Nassau format. We teed off just before midday when the sun was at it's highest and hottest. First hole was won on Chris's par against 3 bogeys. The second was halved thanks to handicap strokes. Team 9 squared the match on the 5th ho;e thanks to a pretty putt by Dan for par. The boys from 9 then won 6 and 7 to go 2 up as Chris and Billy lost their putting strokes. The 8th was halved to stop the bleeding and Chris made par on 9 to end the front side 1 up for Team 9. The backside started the same way as the frontside with Team 10 going 1 up on 10. Team 9 won the next 3 holes and found themselves 2 up again. Team 10 rallied off of Chris's splendid par on the tough 14th and Billy's bogey on the difficult par 3 15th to square the backside. Holes 16 and 17 were halved and we marched on to 18 with all the potatoes on the line. Finally, at long last Billy woke up from his heat induced coma and ripped a drive down the middle of the fairway followed by a 3 wood to 20 yds in front of the green. A chip and 2 putts later for par put Team 10 one up on the backside to match Team 9's frontside. Match and press split. What a battle! Homeric! We retreated from the heat to the 19th hole for a well deserved refreshment and where everyone's a winner. Thx boys! That was fun.

Comments: The format was best ball Nassau. The weather was warm and beautiful. The match started out on a good note with Brian/John winning the first hole with a par. Mike/Chris started to half each of the next 2 holes and winning the 4th. Brian/John won the fifth and halved the next 2 holes and winning the 8th hole to win the front. As the temperature got warmer so did Mike's game. Mike birdied the 10th hole and won the 11th. Now we were even overall. But wait, here comes John with a par on 12th and a par on 13 to win both holes. Mike/Chris answer with 2 more wins. One with a birdie and a stroke on 15 for Chris. With 3 holes to play, Brian had 3 pars to close it out and win the 1 hole press and back 9. It was a good match with handicaps helping everyone. Chis' game suffered because the cart girl could not come around often enough, It showed in his high scoring round. Overall a great round of golf and good conversation at the 19th hole with a couple of adult beverages.

Comments: The strategy for this match started a week before when Rich & Tony played Bill & Bud. This was a non-division match and not as important as the upcoming match with Tom & Billy who were the front runners in our division. R&T knew that Tom & Billy were unbeatable in the alternate shot format so in order to call the format in their upcoming match R&T had to lose all 12 points to Bill & Bud. It was a bold move.
R&T called best ball close out. We then tipped the cart call big and told her not to bring any beers to our group until the 9th hole. Tom & Billy then got hit with a buzzsaw when Rich shot a 39 on the front. R&T were plus 6 before the beers came.
The match was over at 14 and there was a 4 hole press. The beers kicked in for the T&B team and they won the press by halving the first 3 holes and on 18 Tom's double bogie beat R&T's triple. The cold drinks at the bar were the highlight on a very hot day at the Vineyards.

Comments: Format picked by Joe and Steve was Best Ball Closeout. A day that looked like it could be a washout turned out to be ok. Only had a little rain on 1 and 10. Only 1 stroke was given to Frank and it was on #1 and his 6 net 5 tied Steve to start things off. Frank and Dan went on a run winning 5, 6, 7 to go +3 which carried thru the 10th. Joe and Steve won 11 and than Frank and Dan won 12 and 14 to go +4. Match was closed out on 16 +3 and than Joe and Steve won the Press. The golf was either Good or Bad, nothing in between. Frank and Dan Ham and Egged it better than Joe and Steve which helped them win the match. The 2 wounded warriors Frank and Steve compared their injuries at the 19th hole...Steve wins out!!!

Comments: Another sultry day on the links. Billy and Chris in a best ball Nassau format vs Steve and Hank. After many attempts and reschedules we finally teed it up at noon Tuesday at The Swan Lake G.C.
The first hole was a glimpse of what was to follow as Hank drained a 45' putt on a green that resembled velcro to make par and go 1 up. Chris made bogey on two to bring the match to square and it stayed that way until the fourth hole. That is when Steve and Hank donned their chefs hats and served Chris and Billy a generous serving of Ham and Egg. The front side ended with Team 7 up 4.
On the back side Billy hit the flagstick on 10 out of the bunker for a tap in par (clean living?) to go 1 up. It went back and fourth thru the 16th which was halved and also started the press. Steve hit a booming drive over the trap on 17 then proceeded to knock it close. He missed his short birdie putt and tapped in for par. Chris was short on putts all day and 17 was no exception as he was short on his 6 footer to halve. Steve made par for a net 3 on 18 to end it all at 2 up for the back and the press. Congrats to Hank and Steve for a well fought win!

Comments: Brian & John chose the venue and brought the Budweiser boys west on a Friday afternoon........and to boot chose the Blue Tees 71.7/135 slope at 6526 yards..........a stretch for the older guys but we took the challenge with alternate shot........Team #4 went out of the gate with a win on #1 and went 2 up by hole #3. Team # 6 started to get comfortable and got a hole back on #4 and the match remained +1 for Tom & Billy until Brian & John came back to win hole # 8 with a par to bring the match to even. Team # 4 was getting a stroke on # 9 to win the hole with a triple bogey to Team #6
quadruple bogey...........a real dog fight for an ugly hole all the way around. Alas Tommy and Billy saw the cart girl and now the beers started to flow and the pep talk ensued.....they were 1 up but oh no.......the cart girl only had Bud Light ! A dilemma for sure and the possibility of screwing up their Karma......Billy sucked it up and went with the Bud Light, Tommy went with a Yuengling and they were off to the races........despite some long tee shots and great 2nd shots by Brian and John, team # 4 got to +2 on #10 and held the lead getting to hole # 15 up +4 to close out the match. The 3 point press was on and Team # 4 continued their close relationship with the cart girl and won holes 16 & 17 to win the press and take all the marbles. Brian was a gracious host and it was great day at Colonial Springs. It has been over 15-20 years since Tom & Billy played this course and I have to tell you it is a great layout and in beautiful condition.

Comments: Team 9 Frank and Dan are back in action!! Format was Best Ball/Best Ball Nassau. Handicaps were close as Mike was getting 1 and Dennis 2. First hole is #1 handicap and Mike and Dennis won with bogey 5's and a stroke, however with D&F 6 & 7 they didn't need the strokes. Next Stroke for Dennis not until 17th hole. Front nine was won by D&M 9 1/2 to 8 1/2. Highlights were Dan's birdie 3 on #5 and Mike's consistent drives in the fairway as he shot 44 on the front. Back nine was back and forth as these matches usually go. F&D were up 2 going into #17 but Dennis sunk a putt of 12 feet and his stroke gave his team 2 points and the back was all square going into 18. Dan's Par 5 and Frank's bogey were enough to overcome D&M who each lost a ball in the rough. F&D win the back 10 to 8 and the overall 18 1/2 to 17 1/2. Highlights on the back was Dennis's putting he sunk a 45 ft on 11, a 25ft on 14 and that 12ft on 17. Dennis shot 45 to Dan's 44 on the back. No mention of Frank's scores as he was shaking off a lot of RUST!! Good news is he was out on the links again and had relatively no pain, except for his game!!! And of course the 19th hole at The Mill house is always the highlight of the day!!!

Comments: The format was Best Ball/Close Out-
It was a beautiful day and C&M got off to a fast start with a par by Mike on the 1st but S&H won the next two hole to go 1 up. Two more times on the front each team won two holes in a row to take the lead but that lead was never more than +1 with S&H being up1 at the turn.
On the back side Chris caught file with 6 pars, shooting 39. But even with that streak C&M only closed out the match on 17. There was a 1 hole press which S&H won with Hank making a 6' putt for par.
Overall the were 32 pars between all of us and it was a great, hard fought match.

Comments: The format was best ball/best ball/Close Out.
Rich and Tony were plus 1 after the 1st hole. Bill and Bud evened the match on 2. Rich pared the 3rd putting them 1 up again. Rich and Tony stayed 1 up till 7 and went to 2 up. Bud and Bill had strokes on 8 but did not need them with Bill's 4 and Bud's 5. Rich and Tony took 7 on the 8th and the match was even again. Bud and Bill took 2 on 10 and never looked back and were up 7 after 15 and the match was over. the press began on 16 which Bud and Bill won with pars. There was no blood on 17 and Bill and Bud up 2 going to 18 and took 1 on 18 winning the press. Tony did not play his usual game and we felt his pain because we have all been there. The 19th hole was good as always.

Comments: The format was Alternating Shot with Chris & Tom hitting on the odd holes Because of the Men's Club we started on the 9th hole and it was quite a battle with the hole being halved with 8s!!!
Chris & Mike never lead in the match but the match was back and forth with T&B up 2 at the turn and it stayed that way until they were dormied on 16. M&C won 17 to continue the match but Mike missed a 4' putt on 17 to end the match 2&1. The press was halved.
I would be remissed if I didn't mention that T&B short game was out of this world. I can only remember one putt they missed within 6' to win or halve he hole to keep M&C from gaining any momentum. The same applied to their pitching and sand play.
A well deserved win!!!

Comments: The format was best ball, Nassau match. We couldnt ask for better weather. Team D/M took the lead after the first hole only to lose HOLE 2 . At this point Mike jumped on Dennis's shoulders as he carried the team thru 8 as both teams aproached the ninth all square. Hank was spotting a lot of strokes and having a rough day but was a real good sport about it. Dennis's par on 9 was enough to give Team 8 the front . Steve shot an impressive 42 on the front. Mike jumped off Denni's back for the back and started to contribute. An up and down par on 10 halved that hole and we split 11, and 12 also. Both Steve and Hank found water on 12 and Mike and Dennis took a 2 hole lead. Steve's bazooka driver came alive and we swapped holes thru 16 . Team 8 was Dormie. Steves drive on 17 makes me think he probably could drive that hole. Bogies for Mike and Dennis who were stroking on 17 and thier 5s were enough to halve with Steves par. Match to Team 8. Steve's drive on 18 traveled al least 300 right down the middle. He was on in regulation and Dennis and Mike sat 4. Denni's 6 for 5 matched Steves par and we split the push. All and all a great day and a very competive match.

Comments: Best Ball Format, for all the marbles, on a very windy day at Bellport. This was a continuation of our earlier match. We resumed on 13, but played a money match from 1 and when we got to 13 we began the resumption of our match. At that time J&S were up 1. Both Joe & Brian had parr putts, both missed and halved hole. Then it was Steve's show. He won 15 with a bogie and stroke, 16 with a bogie and stroke, 17 with a parr and stroke and 18 John holed a 70 foot putt for parr and Steve followed with a 5 footer for parr and the win. Good to see Brian playing!!!!

Comments: Beautiful weather day at Bellport. Tom came into the parking lot on two wheels with Billy E waiting patiently with 7 minutes to Tee time. Joe and Steve were pacing.......... and wondered what kind of format was going to be chosen as Tom put his shoes on in the cart. Billy and Tom chose alternate shot and boy did that turn out to be the play ! First hole was halved and then it was off to the races for the Budweiser boys !! By the 8th hole they were +4 and then dropped back to +3 after nine. After Joe sank a great putt on #10 for a birdie it started to go downhill in a big way. Billy's Tee shot on 11 was lost and Steve and Joe parred to gain another shot ! Then on #12 Steve hit a magnificent shot within 18" and Joe sank the putt for another birdie to bring the match to even with 6 holes to go. The Budweiser boys reached into there bag of ice and grabbed their last bottles of Bud. After a little pep talk they were off again, winning the next 2 holes to go up +2 and halving 15 and 16 before Joe and Steve came to life and won 17. Billy and Tom were +1 going into 18. VERY EXICITING.........they parred 18 to Joe and Steves bogey to win the match +2. Billy and Tom might have found a format that fits their games, watch out we might bring out the Clydesdales..................

Comments: Bill F and Chris R of team # 10 fame hosted Bill and Bud of team # 1 to a competitive round of golf at the famous Baiting Hollow Club this past Thursday The format was a two man best ball Nassau. We took the tee at 12:30 under cloudy skies and cool temps. Similar to our first match with Joe and Steve, Chris and I found ourselves down two holes after 5. Bill and Bud started out true and down the middle from the tees and played well around the greens. However, Chris and I righted the ship and pulled to even after 7. The match remained even at the turn and both teams took 1.5 pts. The back side came alive for team 10 as we started par birdie and were up 2. after a half on #12 Bud sank a pressure putt on #13 to close within one but alas , that was as close as they would come as team 10 took holes 15 and 16 to close out the back and the match. Holes 17 and 18 were halved thanks to a beautifully executed par putt by Mr. Reilly on #17 and a blown 6 footer for par by me on #18 costing us a pt. We then retired to the 19th for some well deserved refreshment.

Comments: *****Adjusted score by the Commisioner.

Call it first match nerves or the howling winds at the majestic links at The Vineyard GC but it wasn't pretty although quite competetive.
Scoring was Nassau and best ball, best ball was the format.
We were all square after 2. Team #8 took the lead on 3. Team #4 sqaured the match on 6 only to give it back on hole 7 and Dennis and Mike held on to thier slim lead thru nine to win the front. We split the 10 thru 12 and Tom and Billy squared the match after 13 and were up on the back nine. Dennis and Mike came back strong to win the next 3 holes and close out the match after 17. The press on 18 found Dennis and Mike winning the first ball and splitting the 2nd for a 1.5 /.5 split. All in all it was a fun day with great company.

Comments: First sunny day in a long time but windy as always. Hank and Steve chose Best Ball and Nassau scoring.
Steve hit his usual long drive on the first hole and we lost the first hole. We were able to even up the match when we won the 3rd hole. Stayed that way until the 8th hole when we took the hole. We won the front. On the 11th hole Steve's drive was on the back fringe of the green. He was close to the eagle but got the birdie. That is when things started to go downhill for Bud and Bill. After 15, we were 3 down with 3 to go. Fortunately we were able to take advantage of the strokes we were getting and won the 16th, 17th and 18 when Bill pared the 18th after 3 great approach shots and won the hole all by himself. My ball was in my pocket. Steve and Hank were gracious about the miracle comeback by Bill and Bud. Hope the weather continues to get better.

Comments: Steve & Joe played the first round of Alternate Shot and a Nassau format was used. It took a beautifully executed flip of the coin and the wrong guess by Chris. The front nine went entirely Joe & Steve's way with long tee shot by Steve and a good short game by Joe> Chris & Bill had a little trouble putting which ultimately led to our large 6 up lead after 9. But the back nine Joe & Steve came back to earth as Chris & Bill took a modest lead on the back. The press began on 15 and by the end of 17 the press was even and Chris & Bill were up 1 on the nine. On 18, Chris hit a long straight drive and Steve put Joe in the left sand trap. (DOOM). Joe took is lob wedge while Steve closed his eyes and hit a 60 yd shot to the middle of the fairway. Bill hit a great fairway wood leaving about 100 yds out. Steve was 240 yds out and asked Joe should he try his fairway wood and go for it. He did and put it just off the green. Joe chipped it to 4 feet. Meanwhile Chris pulled his shot and left Bill with a 60 foot putt. Bill hit it past 10 feet leaving Bill a tough and pressure packed putt. He made the putt and Steve followed with his and we halved the press, but lost the nine. Great match and a lot of fun. BUT TEAM PRESSURE!!!!!

Comments: Th format was best ball 18 hole close-out. The weather started out pretty bad and just got worse. The match was a dogfight. We see-sawed back and forth with each team never up by more than 2 holes. On #12, Mike parred and the C/M team went one up for the 1st time in the match.Chris sank 3 long putts between 12 and 15 feet to break R/T's back on each occasion. Rich parred 13 & 14 to take the lead back. Chris parred 16 and the match was all even at 17. On 17 Chris had of those 13 foot putts again and R/T were shaking in their boots after he just drained three of them. The putt was true and heading for the center of the hole but stopped about an inch short. R/T both breathed a sigh of relief. Then Tony stepped up to an 8 foot right breaking putt -took a deep breath and drained it!. R/T now one up going to 18.
Tony parrred 18 to complete the sweep of all the points. A real battle for the first match of the season.

Comments: The Season Kick Off- Many changes!! Joe & Steve took on Hank & Steve. We had a special plan all set to throw these guys a curve ball, But Steve C jumped on the tee declared Heads and flip a coin to heads as Joe & Steve were left totally puzzled as to what happened. They took the format choice and screwed up our plan to go ALTERNATE SHOT. They then proceeded to take the first two holes w/ a par and birdie. But J&S fought back to even after 6 with pars on 5 (Joe) and par on 6 (Steve). Steve proceeded to get real hot and we were up 3 after 9. Steve shit 39 0n front. Joe birdied 10 and parred 11 and we were up 4. Steve continued to play well and Hank & Steve had some difficulties putting. We used the Nassau format hoping to take some points but we took all 12. Going to be an interesting year
